Melbourne Tigers
Tournament

July 6th, 7th, 8th, 2012

The Melbourne Tigers are the only (basketball) club that is represented from the grass roots level of local grades of basketball all the way to the NBL. This is a heritage that we are extremely proud of . We offer the best basketball experience for the widest range of basketball skills and ages throughout Australia. Many of the top players at the NBL have played with the Melbourne Tigers during their careers, with many such as Andrew Gaze being involved from the earliest age.

Each year the Melbourne Tigers Junior Basketball Club holds a basketball tournament. It has proved to be an extremely popular event and is held every year around the July school holidays.

Last year 120 teams entered with over 1000 kids playing. Ages ranged from 7 to 22 years for both boys and girls, with teams ranging in standard from State A grade representative level to local school or social teams. Over the 3 days of the Tournament we would expect over 3,500 people to pass through the gates of the stadium.

The stated aim we have for the tournament ( a vision statement if you like ) is:

“The tournament is to be an enjoyable experience for everyone”

Activities other than basketball over the weekend range from a hospitality room up-stars at the Dandenong stadium, visits from the Melbourne Tigers seniors, we have arranged Radio coverage on the 3SEA community radio as well as local newspaper cover. Generally we try to provide as much value as we can to all the participants and the parents/visitors so that everyone feels they have gained. Free posters, product samples (foodstuffs, sports cards, magazines, etc ) are normally supplied from sponsors and have always been extremely well received. Revenue received from the tournament is used to help fund the Melbourne Junior program.
